Monthly Meetings and Programs

The Society meets the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m., from October through April.  Our annual May luncheon commemorates the birth of Robert Browning on May 7, 1812.                      All events are held at our home at The National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, New York City.

Programs for the Browning bicentennial season, 2011-2012, are ...

October 12 Mr. John Timpane, Commentary Page Editor The Philadelphia Inquirer
"Browning and the Monologue of Self"
Browning deserves more credit as the godfather of the full-blown internal monologue. Mr. Timpane restores some of the credit through some of Browning's inheritors: T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, Sylvia Plath, Robert Lowell, and others.
